 SYSTEM ABSTRACT :

 PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS :
This PHX-300S-EM-B custom skid is an example of our “pH Plus Series” family of modular Waste Treatment Systems.

It was designed as an auto configuring batch treatment process due to the volatility of the influent waste stream and because the intrinsic safety of a batch system was desired.

The system incorporates “Best of Class” components and state of the art construction techniques, including internal double containment reagent storage tanks. It is capable of handling incoming wastewater with a pH ranging from 1-13 pH units and temperatures of 50-140° F.

The pH Plus series treatment systems are also available as a standard flow thru system.

 SEQUENCE OF OPERATION :
Wastewater is collected in a transfer tank located in another area of the facility, the collected wastewater is transferred to the system by the in-tank pH probe and compared to (2) sets of user configurable set points, if the pH is within the set points for the continuous mode of operation, the batch valve will be closed and the continuous discharge valve will be open and the system will function in a continuous flow mode of operation. During operation the pH in the treatment is monitored and continually adjusted by a pair of diaphragm metering pumps that based on the pH value, and the user adjustable set points, proportionally add acid or base in order to maintain the desired effluent pH. If the in-tank pH should go outside of the continuous mode set points for a given time period, or should the effluent pH go out of spec, the system will automatically switch to batch mode.

In batch mode, the continuous flow discharge valve will close to initially divert flow back to the transfer station, as well as disable the transfer pumps. The effluent will gravity drain back to the transfer station until it reaches the bottom of the discharge plumbing invert. At this point the system will begin treatment based on the in-tank pH probe readings, when the pH is maintained for a given period of time, the batch discharge valve will open and drain the contents of the batch. The in-tank solution level is monitored by an ultrasonic level control, and when the tank reaches low level, the batch discharge valve is closed and the transfer pumps enabled. As the transfer pumps feed fresh influent to the system, the in-tank level is monitored, and upon reaching a user adjustable level set point, again disable the transfer pumps and begins a cycle of monitoring and treatment. Should the influent pH be maintained with set points during the treatment cycle for the given time set point, the system will then switch back to continuous mode.

Operator Control:
  •    Set Points: All system set points are accessible from the operator interface terminal.
  •   Operating Mode: The operating mode for the system is user selectable on the operator interface with   (3)   modes of operation being available; Batch Mode, Continuous Mode, and Auto Configure Mode.
  •   System Status: All system functions are displayed on the operator interface in a clear and easy to   navigate   manner.
  •   System Security: All system set points and operation controls are password protected, requiring the  operator   to loin with the necessary permissions to be able to change the system operation.
Electrical / Controls: The main control panel is epoxy coated, NEMA 4X with lockable disconnect switch. It is equipped with fused disconnects and magnetic starter with 3-phase overload protection and under voltage release for pumps and mixer. Controls include PLC and Operator Interface, panel control power and E STOP operators, and audible / visual alarm annunciators. The control panel meets UL 508A standards.
Mixer: This system is equipped with a heavy duty, fixed mount, low shear, gear mixer. It incorporates a chemical duty high efficiency motor with a 1.15 service factor. The impeller and shaft are T316 Stainless Steel. The impeller has 45 degree pitched turbine style blades with stabilizing fins. The shaft is designed such that the maximum operating speed is not more than 60% of first lateral.

 CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS & SPECIFICATIONS :
Skid / Structural: The system is completely assembled on one structural steel base. The frame is fabricated of 4” c-channel and is covered with ¼” deck plate. Mounting structure is 2” box tube. The entire structure is white metal blasted, primed, and coated with a two part epoxy finish.
Treatment Tank: Tanks are constructed of thermoformed stress relieved ½” polypropylene. Joints are butt and fusion welded. The tank walls are reinforced with 2 ½” x 1 ½” polypropylene girths. All fittings are gusseted inert gas welded connections. The tank incorporates a gasketed bolt on cover reinforced with 3” structural steel. All hardware is T316 stainless steel. The cover is equipped with a 16” x 14” access port and is equipped with a 4” C Channel mixer rail for mixer mounting. All tanks are designed for fluid with a SG of 2.0 and deflection of less than 1% of span.
Reagent Tanks: Acid and caustic reagent tanks are constructed of high density rotationally molded polyethylene, capable of withstanding specific gravities of 1.9. They are fiberglass wrapped for additional support and set in a polyethylene containment tank and mounted internally to the PHX assembly. Each tank is fitted with a non-contact ultrasonic level transmitter to provide a continuous reading of the reagent level.
Chemical Metering Pumps: The system is supplied with two proportional control, electronic solenoid driven, diaphragm metering pumps. They are constructed of polypropylene, ceramic and teflon wetted parts. They have a capacity of 0-5 gph with 4-20 mA control of 0-100% of capacity. They are fitted with anti-siphon valves, spring loaded injection valves, check valves, and three-function priming pressure release valves.

 DOCUMENTATION / SERVICE / START-UP :
Operation & Maintenance Manuals: This system is supplied with six hard copies of a complete start-up operation and maintenance manual and one electronic copy on cd. The manual has a complete start-up check list, set of operating instructions, recommended spare parts list, routine maintenance list, and calibration procedures. Also included is a complete set of specifications, drawings, P & ID’s, flow schematics, logic diagrams and component manuals.
Start-Up Assistance: Burt Process provides a video taped operator training session with this system. Training includes complete electrical and mechanical operation of all components, review of routine maintenance procedures, recommended spare parts, and a troubleshooting check list with corrective action procedures.
